Welcome to The Rustic Elk! Whether you’re a new friend or a familiar face, I’m honored to have you as a part of the community.

I’m Danielle, and I’m passionate about helping women connect with nature and slow down by teaching them how to grow their own food, cook simple meals from scratch, and preserve what they grow.

As a society, we are so disconnected and lost and I believe we can find what we’re missing by reconnecting to the world around us. I’m here to inspire you to do things that help you feel connected, grounded, and fulfilled.

This site is for you if:

  • You feel high-strung, overwhelmed, and unfulfilled
  • You long for a simpler life still in line with your values
  • You’re interested in homesteading, but you still want all the modern amenities and conveniences
  • You don’t have a lot of space or time, but are ready to make small changes that have a big impact

What you’ll find at The Rustic Elk

We live in a fast-paced society that is constantly demanding more of our time and energy. We are expected to do it all and have it all, and it’s just not possible. Something has to give, and it’s usually our mental and physical health. I help women slow down and connect with nature so they can feel more balanced and at ease.

The Rustic Elk is full of inspiration, encouragement, and resources from someone living this lifestyle that has been right where you’re at. Here, we appreciate the small moments in life, like watching the sunset, listening to the babbling brook, smelling the fresh air, and savoring the taste of a homemade meal.

I believe we connect with nature, we are exposed to fresh air, sunlight, and the beauty of the natural world. We also feel more connected to something larger than ourselves, which can help us feel more grounded and at peace.

Here you’ll find plenty of inspiration and encouragement including gardening guides, from-scratch recipes, wild game recipes, preserving recipes, homesteading tips, and resources for connecting with nature, whether that’s through hiking, foraging, or simply spending time outside

So, who am I?

A city girl turned huntress, gardener, and cook. A mom who was tired of being overwhelmed and unfulfilled and desired something more.

I believe that all women have the right to feel fulfilled, connected, and grounded. There are countless benefits to slowing down and connecting with nature. When we slow down, we are able to connect more deeply with ourselves and our surroundings. We become more present and aware of the world around us.
