There’s something deeply sacred about honey. Liquid sunlight gathered and spun by bees, infused with the wildflowers and herbs of the land. When the Summer Solstice arrives, everything is at its peak: herbs stand tall, flowers bloom wide, and the bees hum with life.

Infusing honey with summer herbs is a simple, beautiful way to capture this moment. Each jar becomes a small spell... holding the warmth, abundance, and energy of the solstice long after the days grow shorter.
The Energy & Magic of Summer Solstice Honey
Honey itself is rich in symbolism: abundance, prosperity, sweetness, attraction, and preservation. At Litha, when nature is overflowing, we gather what has grown and gently blend it into the honey, creating both nourishment and ritual.
Each herb carries its own energy into the blend, layering intention into every spoonful.
Herbs for Solstice Infused Honey
Choose one or a blend depending on what you have growing or what energies you're working with:
Chamomile - peace, calming, sun energy.
Lavender - purification, protection, love.
Lemon balm - joy, healing, clarity.
Rose petals - love, beauty, heart energy.
Calendula - solar energy, healing, warmth.
Mint - energy, vitality, clarity.
Rosemary - protection, cleansing, strength.
Thyme - courage, purification.
Ingredients
- 1 cup raw, local honey
- 1-2 tablespoons dried or fresh herbs
Tools You’ll Need
- Clean, sterilized glass jar with lid
- Wooden spoon or chopstick (for stirring)
- Cheesecloth or fine mesh strainer (for filtering, if desired)
How to Make Summer Solstice Honey

Step 1: Prepare your herbs
If using fresh herbs, make sure they are clean and fully dry (to prevent spoilage). Dried herbs work beautifully for longer infusions.
Step 2: Fill the jar
Place your chosen herbs into the jar. Gently warm your honey (not hot, just enough to pour easily) and slowly pour it over the herbs, filling the jar completely.
Step 3: Stir with intention
Using a wooden spoon or chopstick, gently stir to remove air bubbles, focusing your intention for the infusion... abundance, sweetness, strength, or whatever energy you wish to embody.
Step 4: Seal + Infuse
Seal the jar and place it in a warm, sunny spot (like a windowsill) for 1-2 weeks. Turn or gently shake the jar every day to help the infusion.
Step 5: Strain (optional)
After infusing, you may strain out the herbs using cheesecloth or leave them in if you prefer a more rustic look. Store in a cool, dark place.
Storing Infused Honey
Infused honey will keep for several months if stored properly. Always use clean, dry utensils when scooping to prevent moisture contamination.
Ways to Use Your Summer Solstice Honey
Infused honey isn’t just beautiful, it’s endlessly versatile. Here are some ways to weave it into your everyday rituals, recipes, and magic:
- Stir into herbal teas or sun teas to sweeten and infuse them with solar energy.
- Drizzle over fresh fruit, yogurt, or pancakes for a simple seasonal breakfast.
- Add to warm bread, biscuits, or scones as a sweet offering.
- Blend into salad dressings or glazes for grilled meats and vegetables.
- Use in spellwork or intention-setting rituals focused on abundance, love, or healing.
- Offer a spoonful on your summer altar as part of your Litha celebrations.
- Gift small jars to friends or loved ones as tokens of summer’s abundance.
Every time you reach for it, you’re touching a little piece of this season... captured and preserved for when the days grow darker.
This simple act of infusing honey is a small form of seasonal alchemy. A way to honor the peak of the sun and carry its energy forward into the darker half of the year. Every spoonful is a reminder: of fullness, of sweetness, of what the land offers when we slow down enough to receive it.
📖 Recipe

Summer Solstice Honey
Infused with herbs that radiate solar energy and warmth, this Summer Solstice Honey is more than a sweetener, it’s a seasonal ritual in a jar. Use it in teas, on biscuits, in spells, or as a sacred offering on your Litha altar. With lavender for calm, rosemary for vitality, and chamomile for golden light, every spoonful carries the magic of the sun at its peak.
Ingredients
- 1 cup raw local honey
- 1 tablespoon dried herbs
- 1 sprig fresh rosemary (or 1 teaspoon dried)
- Optional: lemon peel, calendula petals, or a pinch of cinnamon for added sun-charged magic
Instructions
- Warm the Honey (Optional). If your honey is thick, place the jar in a bowl of warm water to make it easier to infuse (do not boil).
- Add Herbs. Place all dried herbs and rosemary into a clean, dry glass jar. If you're using additional optional ingredients like lemon peel or calendula, add those now.
- Pour the Honey. Slowly pour the honey over the herbs, letting it fill the spaces and fully submerge the botanicals. Use a chopstick or wooden skewer to release air bubbles and ensure the herbs are coated.
- Infuse. Cap the jar tightly and place it in a sunny windowsill or warm location. Let it infuse for 5–7 days, turning the jar gently each day while focusing on your intention (vitality, warmth, joy, etc.).
- Strain + Store. After infusion, strain the honey through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth into a clean jar. Label with name, date, and intention.
