I know I mentioned when I talked about decorating the bedroom that quality linens were an important investment. And I really mean it. I remember when my husband and I were first married we slept on crummy, scratchy sheets. That doesn’t give you a very good nights rest, let me tell ya.
And I was super excited when Saatva contacted me about working together. The timing couldn’t have been better. We were finishing up our big, handmade bed frame and really needed some new sheets and pillows to put on our mattress. We already had a mattress, but if we didn’t I definitely would have gone with a Saatva mattress. It is one of the top selling brands in the country and I’m sure it is for a reason.
Now that we’ve been sleeping on our Saatva products for a while now, I thought it was a good time to share some of our thoughts on them.
First of all, the pillows are like sleeping on a fluffy cloud. The first night we used the pillows we both slept like rocks. Which is something that hasn’t happened in a long time. They’re heavy, plush pillows that cradle your head and support your neck like no pillow we’ve ever tried. They don’t stand up very well to leave when the bed is made, but I throw them in the closet during the day. Mostly because I don’t trust the dog… but that’s another story.
The pillows are still as wonderful as they were the first day we used them. They don’t get any impressions in them. Just fluff it up and put it in the position you feel most comfortable in. I like to squish mine up a bit.
The sheets are amazing. We went with white, because my husband says I buy everything in grey (I don’t, but whatever). They have grey and ivory also. I wish I would’ve gone with ivory. And I’ll probably buy another set and get that color. It’s just that darn dog. He jumps up on the bed like he owns the place and if he has one little bit of mud on him… it shows. Oh well, I guess that’s why they get washed weekly.
Which, they, by the way, wash really well. The pillow core cannot be washed (it’s talalay latex). But the other two layers can be (100% organic cotton shell and 100% organic cotton and microdenier fiber (a down alternative) make up the other two layers.
The sheets are 300 thread count, long staple organic cotton. Which is super soft and breathable.
I never knew how much difference quality sheets could make in our life. But, I’m happy to report, it does make a huge difference. I don’t overheat, they’re comfortable, and they’re sustainably sourced and made in fair trade factories. Which, makes me sleep easier knowing….
Now, I just need to get the linen duvet I’ve been eyeing and put up some shelves and our room will be finished for now. I’m sooo ready to be done with this project and move on to the next. Which, is the master bathroom. So exciting looking at all the inspiration and coming up with plans!
